SUMMARY
Performs a variety of semi-skilled fisheries fieldwork and natural resources work. Assists in the installation, removal and collecting of data for smolt traps. Operates natural resource equipment, including boats, trucks, etc. This position requires the successful applicant to work weekends and holidays occasionally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned).

Collect data for smolt trapping, commercial sampling, and stream surveys.

Assist with installing of smolt traps.

Performs other Natural Resource Department duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate of Arts Degree in Natural Resources or a closely related field OR High School Diploma OR GED and two years of Natural Resources experience or experience in a closely related field or four years of relevant experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a current Washington State Driver’s License.

The job requires the employee to regularly lift and/or move over10 pounds. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to lift 100 pounds or more.

Special vision requirements for this position are close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

The job requires the employee to be able to walk at times a number of miles of stream of which often is through changing terrain, a lot of bending, climbing, stooping, and crouching may be a factor. Will need to be able to carry gravel bags weighing 30 to 40 pounds over short distances.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and around vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or air born particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Most of the job duties will be required to perform outdoors in all types of weather. Also must be comfortable being able to work in and around open waters.

OTHER
This position will be required to work weekends and holidays occasionally.
