Human Resources

The Squaxin Island Tribe is an equal opportunity employer.

Job Application

The Human Resources Department strives to reach maximum employment of tribal members by identifying and posting job opportunities both inside and outside of the tribal government.

The department provides mediation services and Employee Assistance Program referrals (as appropriate), as well as training in conflict resolution, evaluation management and harassment prevention.

During 1999, the Human Resources Department updated and refined tribal employment policies and procedures to coincide with changes in personnel law and community input. Manuals and handbooks were updated accordingly and distributed in an effort to ensure all employees were aware of current policies and procedures. The department assisted Little Creek Casino and Skookum Creek Tobacco Company with position descriptions, transfers, reclassifications processing PANs and handling of grievances.

The relationship between the tribe and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services was improved through a series of discussions in order to establish continuity between the two systems in areas such as adjustment skills, job counseling processes, cultural appropriateness and mentoring teams.Mission: To facilitate a system of fair, accessible, effective and efficient policies necessary to fairly and effectively implement the personnel policies established by the Tribal Council which affect employees and potential employees of the tribe; to encourage employment of tribal members; to provide opportunities for a successful career with the tribe.
