SUMMARY:
The Hardware Technician will focus on the day to day receiving, assembly, deployment, maintenance and repair of all standard issue employee devices. These include but are not limited to PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, desk phones, printers and audio/video conferencing/presentation devices; provide professional help desk services. Due to the relative small size of the IS department any understanding of more complex technologies (including Active Directory, MS System Center, Google Apps, etc.) will be considered a great asset.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned.)

Hardware Technician
Assemble, test and deploy PC’s laptops, and IT related electronics and accessories.

Troubleshoot, maintain and repair PC’s laptops, and IT related electronics and accessories.

Install, cable, and support IP based security cameras and devices.

Install and terminate Ethernet/low voltage cable in existing buildings.

Deploy, move, and configure both digital and VOIP desk phones.

Permanent installation and temporary event Audio/Video setup and support.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge of the following is expected for position coverage.

 

Helpdesk
Provide friendly professional support services to Tribal employees and community members.

Able to conduct logical troubleshooting to assist users with any manner of technical issues.

Maintain records of maintenance and services rendered for analytics and troubleshooting.

Understand and enforce security and confidentiality policies when necessary.

Take opportunities to educate users about their software applications as well as how they are connected to their digital resources.

System Administrator
Recommend end user hardware (PC’s laptops, desk phones, cell phones, etc.) and software (OS, productivity applications, etc.) standards by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, and meeting both security and policy requirements.

Quote, purchase, and deploy request for end users related hardware and software for all departments.

Maintain end user hardware and software productivity by preforming regular monitoring, analysis and performance tuning.

Troubleshoot and service end user hardware and software either by repairing in house, or escalating the issue to a vendor or manufacturer to resolve.

Upgrade systems by conferring with vendors and documentation, testing and evaluating when necessary then installing enhancements or new software.

Present recommendations or solutions ad research in written and/or oral form to management for review.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities including trainings, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations and trade shows.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate of Arts and two years of experience in the field of Information Technology OR High School Diploma/GED and four years of experience in the field of Information Technology. Basic helpdesk experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or        governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License and be insurable by the Tribe’s carrier. Must successfully pass a WATCH and Tribal Court background check.  CompTIA, C-Tech. A+/Net+/MCP/MCSA/MCSE/MCITP strongly preferred.

This position occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may encounter risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
