SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Deputy Director, this service oriented position performs Helpdesk first responder duties for PCs, laptops, cell phones, printers, peripherals, MS Office, basic networking, cameras, video and audio equipment and basic IT security. This position is charged with installing, supporting, and maintaining End-User systems as well as planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.  This position serves as the primary technical contact between Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA) and the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Information Services Department.  Technical management of this position will be assumed by the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Information Services Department’s Network Administrator position.  This position will support, and be supported by the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Information Services Department but will report directly to the Tribal Gaming Agency Deputy Director.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)

Manager
Prepares program reports for Executive Staff on the status of unit and projects.

Prepares Gaming Commission resolutions as needed.

Documents business process and procedures.

Prepares and drafts recommended program policies for the unit as directed.

Reviews Technician time sheets for accuracy, signs off on, and submits to payroll in accordance with prescribed policy.

Performs other duties as assigned.

System Administrator
Ensure that end-user hardware and software solutions (PCs, laptops, desk phones, cell phones, OS software, productivity applications, etc.) meets the standards established by the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Information Services Department.

Quote, purchase, and deploy requests for end-user related hardware and software.

Management of cloud based services including MS Exchange, Smartsheet, iTrak and others in collaboration with Squaxin Island Tribe Information Services.

Maintain end-user hardware and software productivity by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, and meeting both security and policy requirements.

Troubleshoot and Service end-user hardware and software, either by repairing in house or escalating issue to vendor or manufacturer to resolve.

Responsible for ensuring that security and critical updates tested, scheduled, and then installed in a tiered manner.  Prioritizing scheduling of upgrades to application and software platforms based on standards established by Squaxin Island Tribe Information Services.

Monitors and maintains virtual systems including storage arrays, servers, and storage fabric.

Secures system integrity by developing access protocols, monitoring, and evaluation as well as confirming back-ups and maintaining documentation for recovery.

Presents recommendations, solutions, and research in written and/or oral form to management for review.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities including trainings, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations and trade shows.

Helpdesk
Able to conduct logical troubleshooting to assist users with any manner of technical issue.

Work with Squaxin Information Services in collaboratively documenting logical, physical and protocol maps, and backups of all equipment and cabling layouts, configurations parameters, and network documentation standards and procedures.

Understands and enforces security and confidentiality policies when necessary.

Takes opportunities to educate user about their software applications, infrastructure and connectivity, and available information services related resources.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES knowledge the following is expected for position coverage.

Network Administrator
Demonstrate working knowledge of the foundational network software servers including Domain Controllers, DHCP, DNS, Print and File services, and MS SCCM.

Ensure that future infrastructure hardware and software resources meet Squaxin Island Tribe Information Services standards and make formal recommendations following those guidelines.

Management, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of active network hardware: switches, routers, firewalls, etc.

Management, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of active network software: IP addressing, routing, VPNs, Firewalls, VLANs, DHCP, RSTP, VOIP, and network QOS.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  
This position has supervisory responsibilities for 2 technicians.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in information technology field OR Associate of Arts and a minimum of five years’ experience in information technology field OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of seven years’ experience in information technology field.  Must have experience with be familiar with:

Windows 7/8/10 configuration and support
Microsoft Server 2012r2 and 2016

Hyper-V
Powershell
SQL

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license.  Must have received in the past and provide proof of the following certifications current or not A+/Security+/Net+/Project +/MTA/MCP required.
