SUMMARY:
The Youth Sports Coach will plan, and supervise youth activities provided through Tu Ha’ Buts Learning Center. The Youth Sports Coach will chaperone and coach tournaments, provide after-school, weekend and school-break activities. Youth Sports Coach will learn program reporting requirements, how to maintain accurate attendance records, and develop and maintain activities files related to the youth program. Maintain program supplies and identify the need of new supplies as needed. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
• Uphold all Tribal and departmental policies, protocols, rules and requirements.
• Collaborate with other departmental programs in youth sports program development.
• Help organize, implement and provide overall supervision of planned, daily program activities.
• Provide direct supervision to program participants at all times and ensure an enjoyable and safe sporting experience.
• Value the feelings and skill-building of players equally with winning, ensure fair playing opportunities for all players.
• Support a positive work environment.
• Maintain inventory, organize and store program sports equipment and related supplies. Identify and plan for equipment needs.
• Maintain and encourage a clean and professional environment where sports are being instructed.
• Model values of fairness, honesty, sportsmanship, patience, respect and responsibility.
• This program involves planning and conducting practices, games and events that are intended to occur outside school hours. Must be available to work evenings and weekend hours.
• Coordinate youth participation in on-site and off-site sporting activities, including travel coordination. Travel coordination includes driving youth in a GSA van or similar.
• In coordination with TLC staff, help plan and implement seasonal, summer and school-break activities.
• Maintain accurate and complete records and reports of activities.
• Encourage parent involvement, and recruit volunteers and specialists to assist in youth sports development.
• Establish a monthly calendar of youth sports activities.
• Communicate instructions and directions using clear, simple language.
• Prepare incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective action. Seek guidance from supervisor in unusual circumstances.
• Attend required training and staff meetings.
• Support volunteers assisting with coaching, mentoring and/or chaperoning.
• Learn and use age-appropriate coaching techniques and practices.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree with 1 year with related experience, OR High School diploma /GED with 3 years related experience, OR 5 years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. And correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a current Washington State Driver’s License; current CPR/First Aid Certification. Successful applicant must also pass a WATCH and Tribal background check.

Depth perception (three-dimension vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.)
