SUMMARY: 
This position will serve as an assistant in all areas of Human Resources. The position will be 32 hours a week with on-call hours based on department activities.  The position is intended to be a training position with the potential for upward mobility; must have a desire to pursue a career in the Human Resources field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)

Provide assistance to the staff of the Human Resources Department as directed. (Prepare employee handbooks and orientation packets; prepare packets for interviews, copying and filing, distribution of payroll, drafting memos and letters, etc.)

Be able to maintain complete confidentiality of all information seen or heard while within the department.

Develop, plan and coordinate the Stepping Stones Program

Work with the current HR team to assist with and learn:

            – New employee orientation and exiting employee process and paperwork

            – Request for Recruitments, job descriptions, posting positions

           –  Ordering supplies and monitoring inventory

            – The annual evaluation process

            – Enrollment in benefits

            – The personnel data base, generate PANs, PAN tracking, distribution and posting within the data system

             – Payroll distribution

          –  The Microix system including the process for ENCs, APIs and scheduling trav

           – Maintenance of personnel (paper) files

            –  EOC procedures

            – Preparations and hosting at HR hosted functions, i.e. Staff Picnic, Appreciation Dinner

            –  FML: the law, tracking, with short and long term disability and worker’s comp.

             –  FLSA Law and how it applies in Indian Country

Complete online HR relevant training

Provide clerical assistance as needed

Provide excellent customer service

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
May supervise seasonal program staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 
Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate of Arts Degree in related field and 2 years’ relevant experience with increasing responsibilities; OR High School Diploma/GED and 4 years’ experience in a related field with increasing responsibilities. Must complete Tribal Human Resources Proficiency Certification before completion of second year. Previous experience working with youth preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must pass WATCH and Tribal Court Background Check
