SUMMARY:
With training and supervision the incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and clerical activities: maintaining files and records to meet program need, reviewing and verifying data, and providing customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
(Other duties may be assigned.)

Serves as file clerk. Maintains records, including retrieving and updating information and archiving/ disposing of documents in accordance with established retention schedules and legal requirements.

Provides assistance and general clerical support to Finance staff. May assist with physical inventories.

Assists and directs customers.

Performs other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.

An interest in bookkeeping or accounting is desirable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma OR GED and one year of work experience.

Note: Financial positions must be bondable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, (clear vision at 20 inches or less); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors) and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). This job entails a lot of close up reading, interpreting, keying, and writing. Focus must shift easily from flat surface to computer screen and vice versa.

The noise level for this position is generally moderate. Normal office noise including printers; occasional fieldwork for fixed assets may include noises.
