Squaxin Family,
We want to share an important update regarding the upcoming Talking Circle this Wednesday, February 26th. Our goal is to provide a space for open and respectful dialogue, and we remain committed to ensuring that everyone can participate in a safe and secure environment.
Recently, a concern was brought to our attention regarding a potential threat related to this discussion. Out of an abundance of caution, the concern was escalated to our Tribal Law Enforcement, who then consulted with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). After careful consideration and in consultation with our law enforcement partners, it has been recommended that, for everyone’s safety, the Talking Circle move to an online format.
We do not want to cause unnecessary alarm, but rather ensure that we are taking proactive steps to protect our community while still holding space for this important discussion.
As a result, we will be holding the discussion via Zoom next Wednesday, March 5th at 5:00 p.m.. This will allow for a structured and secure conversation where community members can participate, ask questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue with Council.
What This Means for You:
New Date and Format: The Talking Circle will now be held via Zoom on Wednesday, March 5th at 5:00 p.m.
Registration Required:
To ensure a secure and productive conversation, participants will need to register in advance. If you’d like to register now, you may do so here: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_7doEdP3fTwat0dhZWq4GCQ
Continued Engagement:
This format allows for an open and respectful discussion, ensuring that all voices are heard while maintaining a safe space for everyone.
We appreciate your understanding as we make these adjustments and encourage everyone to participate in this important discussion.
Thank you for your patience and commitment to our community’s safety and well-being. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.
