Honoring Our Connection with the Earth

Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Squaxin Island Solid Waste and Recycling Program is to manage solid waste of the Squaxin Island Tribe in a healthy, cost-effective, and culturally relevant way to protect our natural environment and honor our connection with the earth.

Honoring our connection with the earth means:
1) Reducing the resources we take from the earth

2) Minimizing further extraction from the earth by reusing resources we have already taken

3) Minimizing further extraction from the earth by recycling the resources that we can no longer reuse

4) Materials disposed into the earth do not contain substances that will harm the earth.
