Tuesday Tips and Tricks

Did you know that the majority of homes lost to wildfires are because of embers catching fuels on fire near homes?

With spring cleaning in full swing, don’t forget to clean up around your home and reduce the opportunity for embers to create a fire!

To reduce the fire fuels near your home, consider these tips to create a defensible space!

  • Keep the immediate are around your home  (up to 5 ft away) free of things that can burn.
  • Keep brush, patio furniture, tall grass, and other items from being directly next to your home.
  • Trim up branches around your yard so fire on the ground can’t climb up your trees and spread.
  • Create covers for the vents under the eves and crawlspace that can quickly be put on and keep embers from entering and starting a fire.
