The Squaxin Island Gaming Commission (SIGC) was established by Ordinance in 1994 and later ratified on December 17, 2015 and February 10, 2021.  The Commission is a five-member body appointed with the terms and conditions of the Squaxin Island Tribal Council.  The Commission has the authority to develop and implement regulations for, and supervise the operation of, any gaming operations established within the jurisdiction of the Squaxin Island Tribe.

Regulations are intended to establish policies related to the proper regulation and supervision of such gaming and to ensure:

(1) The honesty of gaming operations;
(2) The qualifications of persons and entities involved in the gaming operation;
(3) The protection of the revenue properly due and owing to the Squaxin Island Tribe from gaming activities; and
(4) Compliance with and enforcement of applicable Federal, State and Tribal rules, regulations and policies.

The SIGC administers gaming enforcement polices for the Squaxin Island Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA).  The TGA reports to the SIGC regularly and recommends policies and rules to help regulate gaming on Tribal lands.  The TGA enforces policies and rules in compliance to National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) regulations and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), as well as Tribal/State Compact and Squaxin Island Gaming regulations.  The TGA performs thousands of gaming activity inspections and conducts extensive reviews that our reported to the NIGC, State Regulators and the SIGC.  The Tribal Gaming is also the gaming branch of government for the Squaxin Island Tribe and reports administratively to the Tribal Government.
