Recurring Event Event Series: Tuesday Elders Quilting 101

Tuesday Elders Quilting 101

January 7, 2025 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Quilting 101:

Can you imagine the warm feeling of your favorite patchwork quilt? Have you ever found yourself mesmerized by the beautiful colors and patterns of a gorgeous hand-crafted quilt and wished you could make a family heirloom of your very own?

Learn about all aspects of quilt making.

From absolute beginners that want to learn the art of quilting to seasoned quilters looking for expert tips and inspiration! Learn about color theory, new tools and techniques or-  if you are an experienced quilter – don’t be bashful, bring what you are working on!  You may be the inspiration that someone else is looking for.

Sign up today!! Classes will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 every week.  Through October and part of November we will work on a joint project(s) to build our skills.

You will learn strip piecing, how to make half square triangles (HST) two at a time (TAAT) and eight at a time (EAAT), quarter square triangles (QST), and two ways to make flying geese.  The blocks will be put together with sashing and completed with an outside sashing and border.

The quilt(s) will go to a lucky foster child or children of Squaxin Island Tribe as a Christmas gift from the participating Squaxin Island Elders.   Once this is completed, and if there is an interest, we will move onto an individual beginner project or an advance beginner project.
