Cold Temperatures Ahead!
Starting Friday night, expect overnight lows to be in the 20’s through Monday.

Here are a few tips for the cold weather ahead:
• Winterize your house
• Wrap outdoor pipes so they don’t freeze
• Be sure your pets aren’t left outside over night without proper shelter
• Bring a coat, hat and gloves if you are out early in the morning or late in the evening
• AND of course, have your emergency kit ready to go.

SPSCC is working to attract and help educate more members of our tribal neighbors for careers in natural resources, computer science, and additional fields of interest. We are using funding we secured from NOAA through the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges to hire a Tribal Transition Specialist to help students persevere so they can go straight to work for a tribal government or enterprise (and/or pursue advanced education).

Over the next few years we want to integrate traditional ecological knowledge into several math and science courses that are required for all students, not just tribal students. We will need your help identifying knowledge keepers who can inform our efforts.

Thought for the Day
You won’t feel like it.
You will be tired.
It will seem too difficult.
Do it anyway.
That’s what separates the great from the average.
